Wraith
A ZoE Martinique Investigation #1

I have found that Phaedra has a great knack for writing fantasy stories. She has several out (most after Wraith- I apologize for arriving so late to the party) that if all are like Wraith, you will be in store for some good reading.

Wraith chronicles the life and times of Zoe as she uses supernatural abilities to get what she needs and then runs into trouble she could not have foreseen. The entire story is from her perspective. At first I thought this made the story one dimensional, yet as I read, the story takes shapes quite nicely. Spoiler alert, towards the end, each chapter becomes a cliff hanger all by itself. Putting it down is pretty tough sometimes.

Then there is Zoe herself. Zoe has unique abilities, but also the knack for making poor decisions. If she turns right, she is in the clear. If she turns left, she is in hot water. Somehow she manages to always turn left. It is hard to see her always get in over her head, yet this quality she has also makes her more enduring. Even fantasy characters have there flaws.

There is also the supporting cast. Her mother as well as two guys who live with her mom. They help keep a good ebon flow of dialogue as well as keep Zoe alive.

Anyone interested in fantasy reading, I recommend reading Wraith.
