The Red Pyramid
By Rick Riordan

The Red Pyramid is a fantasy book along the lines of the harry Potter books, and is just as good. The two main characters are very easy to get to know and want to cheer on, right from the first page. The story starts out slow to set everything up, but it is not very long when things get very twisty, and pretty much keeps you guessing right up until the very end. There are also several characters that you meet along the way, and each one has their own unique personality, as well as their own place in the story. Rick Riordan has shown himself as a great story teller with a unique vision for fantasy stories. The descriptions of what you read are incredibly vivid and are easy to picture as you go, from the biggest buildings with the highest vaulted ceilings down to the smallest hieroglyphics. This book is tailored towards young adults, so if you are looking for a fantasy book with no adult themes, this will work perfectly. I have an eleven year old nephew that I will be passing this book onto, as this would be a great book to read, and expand his vocabulary with. I recommend this book.
