I Am Radar
By Reif Larsen

I AM RADAR was more than a little disappointing. It read rather well, yet in the end, it did not live up to what I was wanting. But before I get into the review, let me say, the only reason I read this was because work had me go to a town I had never been before, and while there, I stopped into a store to see what books they had. My thought was, this. Perhaps I was in that town for a reason. To find a hidden gem of a book while I was there. The store a three row four-foot book shelf towards the back. The bottom shelf had this book tucked back on the lower left side, behind several other books. I picked it up and started reading. It has a simple idea that quickly picks up a science fiction vibe, as well as a sense of fantasy story line. I love the characters (especially Radar. The additions of several well-placed photos and illustrations helped as well. Still, I still found gaps in the story. The title seemed to be misleading. There are huge parts where Radar is not involved with at all. At the end, when it appeared to be pulling all the stories together for an ending of seismic proportions, it ended rather ambiguously, and open to interpretation. While I still recommend picking up a book when you are in an area you don’t usually patronize, I recommend passing on this book.
