A CONDITION OF LIMBO
tells the story of a father and daughter who come together despite the
devastating breakup of a family. When Walter Perkins walked out of his
house forever, after an emotional episode that tore apart his marriage
and the heart of his young daughter, the family was so fractured that
it took many years for the author to find the healing that only real love
and forgiveness can bring. A good deal of the forgiveness that she must
seek is for herself after her emotionally disturbed mother blames her
for the failure of the marriage - and the shattering of the family.
When her father is diagnosed
with cancer, Perkins-Cooper decides to become her father's caregiver.
But as she prays for his physical healing, she finds something else -
emotional restoration. Cooper's story is raw and honest. She captures
the frustration that her father endures throughout his illness - but she
also shares the pain and anguish that comes from watching someone you
love slowly die. Her struggle to deal with her father's present condition
while the ghosts of the past whisper in her ear, opens a door of understanding
into her feelings - even the negative ones that she must learn to confront.
This book takes you
inside the personal lives of family members who are faced with relationships
that are twisted, confused and tested by terminal illness. It is an emotional
experience that has something for everyone - but especially for those
who find themselves in similar circumstances.
