Candice DeLong served for 20 years as a FBI Agent. She became an agent at a time when women were a small minority and sexism and blatant harassment were a form of everyday life. As time passed her accomplishments spoke for themselves and the harassments eventually faded. Early in the book, Candice is compared to Clarice Starling of Hannibal Lecter fame. She did her fair share of profiling and was involved in many famous cases. Included in these cases were the Tylenol tampering case and the Unabomber case.

The cases she handled were often so horrific that at one point Candice and her partner were nicknamed "The Gruesome Twosome." Not only were the daily rigors of being a female FBI agent told in the book but her life as a devoted single mother raising a young son is also touched upon. The reader reads at one point the salary of a FBI agent was not sufficient and she ended up moonlighting as a home health care provider.

Candice DeLong is one of the original strong women. She has a truly interesting story to tell and a fascinating way of telling it. Reading her non-fiction book became as interesting as any book of fiction I have ever picked up.
