Behind the Stories by Diane Eble is a collection of autobiographical stories for Christian authors who relate their experiences either on-the-way to publication or afterwards. Authors from almost every Christian genre are represented and include some of the best known names in inspirational writing. You will find stories from T. Davis Bunn, Jerry B. Jenkins, Dee Henderson, Francine Rivers, Bodie Thoene, just to name a few.

The book is broken down into thematic sections, with each section dealing with a particular subject manner. For example, in the section titled, "Success: True of False," T. Davis Bunn, relates his story of how he "had it all" in terms of worldly success, but gave it up to follow his God-inspired call to become a writer. In the section titled, "Redeeming the Past," Patricia Hickman tells how she overcame her father's domination to utilize her God-give talents for God's glory and her own personal fulfillment.

Behind the Stories is a book that every inspirational writer and reader should read, not only once, but many times, for it addresses issues that affect not only the creative personality but the consumer as well. Issues about doubt, insecurity, disabilities, and most importantly the ability to hear and follow God's call on your life are addressed with frank honesty and compassion. Behind the Stories will not only provide you with an understanding of what it is like to be an inspirational writer, but it will also inspire and encourage you as well.
