Grace After Midnight
A Memoir
by Felicia "Snoop" Pearson and David Ritz
This look back on what has been a relatively short life so far was both sad and enlightening. Written as it was
lived, in street talk, it’s a very compelling look at a young girl who was born a crack baby and went through
her early life as if she were a boy. Felicia "Snoop" Pearson grew up to become a drug dealer living through the
streets, including spending time in prison on a manslaughter charge. I say through the streets and not on the
streets, because while she depended on them for her income, she lived in a decent home with a foster family who
became her real and only family.
Recently she was given a job playing herself as an actress on the HBO series The Wire, known for its
realistic street life story lines. "Snoop" finally appears to have found a place for herself.
A chance meeting with Michael K. Williams, also known as "Omar" on the show, led to her recruitment. "Snoop"
grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where The Wire is set. It will be interesting to see where this 27 year
olds life leads from here. All in all I found this to be a sad childhood for any child and it’s amazing she’s
still alive. It’s not a story you will easily forget or put out of your mind. |
