My Lucky Dog

by Mellon Tytell

Featuring both color and black and white photos, My Lucky Dog highlights scenes from the 13-year relationship the photographer shared with her dog, Hunter.

Adopting the 86 pound mutt when he was two, Tytell calls the day she brought Hunter home a "transforming experience." Of course, that's not news to most dog owners. A dog can certainly change your life.

In Tytell's case, she writes that since she had no children, it was Hunter who taught her about "responsibility, love and devotion in a way that was inaccessible to me with people."

Given her profession, a camera was always within Tytell's reach, which explains the thousands of pictures that she collected over the years with her "lucky dog."

The best of this inventory went into creating this photographic history of Hunter's and his owner's life together. It's a love story captured on film that any pet owner can relate to.
