The
Life and Legend of Chris Kyle
is written by journalist Michael Mooney. Mooney is a staff
writer at D Magazine and writes for other popular
magazines, as well. His book is a moving tribute to the late
Chris Kyle. Mooney interviewed Kyle, his family, fellow SEALS,
and others who came to know Kyle before and after he became
The Legend. Mooney shares Kyle’s story from his childhood
to his death. We hear about Kyle’s love for God, family,
and friends and how he was known for his loyalty, integrity,
and hard work. The man seemed to thrive on challenge. In
his twenties, Kyle followed his cowboy dream then followed
up it with his second dream of joining the military. Kyle’s
wife was his partner in his military life. She realized he
was a warrior and learned to accept it. Some of Kyle’s
stories are funny, like the one about his best friend, the
football player, and the infamous “hug.” We also
hear about his company (Craft), how tirelessly he worked for
others once he retired, and how generous he was. Mooney also
writes about Kyle’s last day, his murderer, and the
emotional Texas-style funeral.
I listened
to the audio version of The Life and Legend of Chris Kyle
with a former Marine. I watched as he nodded with understanding,
laughed at Kyle's humor and teared up at the loss. The
Life and Legend of Chris Kyle is an audio we won't soon
forget. We both agreed America needs to adapt a Chris Kyle
mentality to survive in the world of terrorism.
Brian
Troxell lends his deep, southern voice to the audio version
of The
Life and Legend of Chris Kyle
. It’s a persuasive narration that would without
a doubt earn a slap on the back and nod from Chris Kyle. Troxell
can be seen and heard on television, film, radio, podcast
and stage.
