The
Writersville Charity Cookbook
By 20 authors
from around the world
Anybody
can read a cookbook, find a good recipe, put it on to cook and...then
what? Sit and wait while you turn into a couch potato watching an
old rerun of "I Love Lucy"? The Writersville Charity Cookbook
gives you a great alternative! Now you can read a good story about
the meal you are preparing. Not only does it offer great entertainment,
but you will have something besides the weather to talk about when
you serve it up for the family! No boring meals anymore."
The
whole concept of The Writersville Charity Cookbook began with a
group of writers who belong to the e-group "The Writers Life,"
which is run by Dorothy Thompson. Not unusual, the online conversation
frequently turned to the topic of food. And that was the beginning
of the idea to produce the cookbook. Since they were all authors,
it was decided that not only would the book include recipes, but
would also contain stories which related to the recipes.
The
Writersville Charity Cookbook has recipes for everything from
appetizers to desserts-with all the courses in between. Since most
authors are very busy people, many of the offerings are very easy
to prepare. You will laugh as you read about Barbara Williamson-Wood's
recipes for beans and her famous "drambuie" drink. You
might even shed a tear as you sit with a family and sense their
moving account of a special holiday memory. You can find "duck-sinkers"
(baking powder biscuits) or an ordinary cheese sandwich from C.C.
Hammond, who lives "On the Other Side of the Door" (her
book).
Before long,
it was decided that writers are only as good as the readers they
can reach, and thus it was decided to donate the profits to ProLiteracy
Worldwide. Kim Blagg, at PageFree Publishing, Inc. soon jumped on
board and enthusiastically agreed not only to publish the book,
but to donate the publisher's profits to ProLiteracy Worldwide as
well.
You can't
miss with this one. You will love it yourself, and it will make
a perfect Christmas gift for your favorite chefs-or readers.
