Family Circle Eat What You Love & Lose
Quick and Easy Diet Recipes from Our Test Kitchen (Family Circle)
By Peggy Katalinich, Susan McQuillan

“…we did it! Together we dropped a total of 146 pounds in less than four months on the “Eat What You Love & Lose” plan designed by nutritionist Susan McQuillan.”

A group of Family Circle’s food specialists found themselves gaining weight with each recipe they tested. Finally the decision was made to create some recipes to help one lose weight, naturally. In this cookbook readers are introduced to each food specialist and then given two questionnaires. One will tell them if they are ready or not and the other is about fitness style. Next, it’s all about calories - the starting line and how to balance everything. The author then gives you a two week menu and goes over portion options and answers questions like “What about beverages?” and “What if we don’t like something on the food plan?” And on page twenty eight is a list of lighter lunches and a list of Snack Attacks (150 calories or less).

The recipes begin with Speedy Super Salads, which give us various mouth-watering recipes that include shrimp, chicken, turkey, pasta, beef, steak, ham. Following the salad chapter is Perfect Pasta Pronto with tasty dishes like Penne with Cherry Tomatoes, Smoked Mozzarella, Basil Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Shells, and Vegetable Pasta Bake. Included are recipes for three “Skinny Sauces.” Simply Sensational Soups are up next. The author recommends having diet soups and pasta portions sitting in your freezer to help you stay on the right track. The soups run from the usual chowders, creams, chilies and stews to the unusual like Beef-and-Pineapple Soup. The Fish and Seafood section has recipes like Swordfish Brochettes, Tropical Snapper, and corn-Shrimp Tostadas.

One of the most impressive things about this cookbook is the fact that the recipes are quick - Great Chicken in a Hurry, Marvelous Meat in Minutes, Delicious Desserts in No Time, etc. Eat What You Love and & Lose is a cookbook not to be missed. Learning to create these dishes so they become a healthy habit in your family's life is the best thing you can do for them in today’s fast food life. Highly recommended.
