I am a cozy mystery fan without a doubt but what I really enjoy even more are mysteries with recipes. Laura Childs’ Tea mystery series is one of my all-time favorites. Seeing the variety of recipes and the list of series (at the back of the book) made me realize how much I’ve been missing.
The excerpts in the Cozy Cookbook have me looking up mystery series I hadn’t considered before, like Connie Archer’s A Spoonful of Murder from her Soup Lover’s Mystery series. The main character is Lucky and the backdrop is her late parents’ restaurant By the Spoonful Soup Shop which sells soups, stews and sandwiches. The recipe that follows the excerpt is French Toast Sandwich… OMG. I’ve never tried Julie Hyzy’s White House Chef Series but I think I just might and her easy to make Eggs Benedict recipe looks like one even I can handle. Cleo Coyle’s Chocolate Zombie Clusters from Murder by Mocha turned me into cross-eyed Zombie. Yum. Victoria Hamilton’s Fourth of July Potato Salad from her mystery Bowled Over and Laura Childs’ Summer Tea Sparkler from Sweet Tea Revenge had me craving summer time. But my favorite has to be Erin’s Two-Bean and Pesto Salad from Leslie Budewitz’s Crime Rib.(Great, now I’m hungry again)

About a third of the way through the book I notice I was reading the excerpts - and each recipe. With recipe books I usually skip to what looks like a favorite. I found all the recipes in The Cozy Cookbook inspiring. There is such a variety you just can’t miss in pleasing the foodies in your family. The Cozy Cookbook is a must for every mystery reader’s kitchen.

The Cozy Cookbook is set up in sections of: Breakfast, Breads, Muffins, and other Baked Goodies; Soups, Salads, and Sandwiches; Drinks; Appetizers; Main Courses; Side Dishes; and Desserts. At the very back is a series list and Author bios.
