Bill Manchee
Interview conducted by Sue "Suebuggy" Johnson

Bill Manchee started his career as a lawyer in North Dallas in 1977. This was after he married his high school sweetheart, started a family of four wonderful children. He and his wife were working full time to support them. What spare time he had lead him into politics serving as Collin County Chairman from 1974-1976.

In the course of his practice he met and was inspired by many people. A romance writer gave him the idea that perhaps could write. Another client, an expert in animal assisted physical therapy told him of her interest in writing a textbook. He asked her why she did not? Her reply was that she did not have a computer or a printer. Bill had a computer that he was not using and donated it to her. She went on to write a very successful book. Her success prodded him once more to consider the possibility of a writing career for himself.

In his spare time, with the help of Grammar, Punctuation and Creative Writing books Bill wrote his first book, "Twice Tempted" He had not told his family that he was writing a book and they were shocked and elated. Soon he dove in and wrote his second book titled "Undaunted" Bill became devoted to his writing and lived for the hours he was away from his law practice and could be writing and promoting his books. Fortunately his son joined the law firm and with the help of a classmate allowed his father more time to do what he truly loves, write.

After his first two publishers went out of business fate stepped in. Mr. Manchee was called to defend a printer in a lawsuit. He did so in exchange for the company printing "Undaunted". After becoming self published Bill began to encounter other authors who were having similar problems being published. L.C. Hayden then became Top Publications second author with her book "Who’s Susan". Top Publication had just become a small press.

Top Publications now has nine authors and twelve titles in print. Their goal for the year 2001 is to publish a book a month. Lisa Korth had been serving as Bill’s publicists from the beginning but it was always his dream that she would come to work full time. As of January 2001 Lisa has taken over the helm allowing Bill more time to write and practice law. Bill still works with the production end of the company handling most of the cover design, editing and printing.

We congratulate Mr. Manchee as a man with a full plate and the blessings to handle it so graciously. Good luck to Bill and Lisa and Top Publications
