Ever wonder about the history of New York City? Ever hear stories about the infamous 42nd Street? Most of them have probably had some truth to them! This is a great and informative book about the history of 42nd Street in New York City. It deals with the politics that have run the city and the problems that the area has seen. The author talks about the sexual issues of West 42nd Street and the political issues of Grand Central Station. It also discusses the history of Broadway and it's theaters.

Marc Eliot does a wonderful job of connecting everything and putting all the information into a logical sequence of events. He makes the book enjoyable and understandable without turning it into a history textbook. Eliot also puts everything into perspective, and makes sense of the vast quantities of information surrounding the street's history.

The book includes pictures that help clarify who the primary playmakers were and what the street looks like. A very good book that takes a historic look at the infamous 42nd Street in New York City
