Sniping
An Illustrated History

by Pat Farey and Mark Spicer

The fascinating and dark history of sniping and snipers is the subject of this coffee table-sized book. From the French and Indian Wars and Revolutionary War in the American colonies up to today's armed conflicts around the globe, the authors provide one of the most comprehensive looks at a topic that has been largely overlooked.

Each chapter focuses on an incident from armed combat and assesses the equipment and tactics employed. There's information on everything from camouflage schemes, ammunition, and the evolution of equipment, to some of the lesser known tales of sniper lore. Still a factor today, sniping is not only employed by regular and terrorist forces against one another, but it is also utilized against vulnerable military hardware and civilian transportation systems. The role of marksmanship in police actions is also touched upon.

Over 200 color and 150 black and white photos are used throughout this highly informative volume.
