52 Ways to Become Famous
(and Sometimes Infamous)
by Casey Lee
The author, a publicist with Penworth Publishing and Publicity, offers 52 ways to make a name for yourself,
although 45 of these suggestions are merely humorous ideas that few of us can achieve. For instance, she
recommends "Become President of the United States" and "Win a Gold Medal in the Olympics - Five Times or More"
as sure-fire ways of achieving fame. In the introduction to the book, Lee explains her two-pronged approach
this way: "It’s been said that laughter can bring on brilliance. That’s why this book starts out with a look at
the lighter side of stardom and fame. A chuckle or two can often open the flood gates of our creativity."
It isn’t until page 107 of this 160-page book that Lee gets down to business and actually provides useful
ideas for generating publicity. The seven legitimate ways of becoming famous are described in the final chapters,
which give readers valuable information about press releases, article syndication, television appearances, radio
guest spots, speaking engagements, newsletters, and networking. The book concludes with Casey Lee’s
"Million Dollar Rolodex," a listing of some of her favorite online resources for helping spread the word.
This book is best-suited to readers with little or no previous knowledge of how to publicize themselves or
their product. The author’s tone is light-hearted and friendly, and readers should approach 52 Ways to Become
Famous with the same light-heartedness, because 45 joke answers precede the seven real answers to the
question: "How can I become famous?" |
