At the beginning of this book is a unique disclaimer, which states that real estate investing
is a risky business, that the author and the publisher do not accept any responsibility for any
person’s loss as a result of reading this book, and that, if the reader chooses not to accept
the disclaimer, they may return the book for a full refund.
Why is this important? Mr. Pockross is a Zen Buddhist. He practices what he preaches.
Real estate investing is his life. The two go hand in hand. To practice real estate one must
maintain an attitude of integrity, ethics, and responsibility. These are some of the principles
that, as a Buddhist, are held to be truths.
Confessions of a Mini-Mogul is one man’s rags to riches story by way of real estate
investing. We have all seen these ideas presented on late night TV, and for a price we can
invest in the information that will catapult us to millionaire status in a matter of months.
Pockross’s Confessions is not that kind of book. The purpose of his book is to guide
practical investors through the maze of investing in a light-hearted, even humorous way, while
presenting a realistic guide to getting rich. He makes the point that not everyone can be a
real estate wizard. It takes a certain personality type with definite skills to help one
succeed. Although he explains how he did it, he repeats that the reader must find his / her own
niche and what represents a good deal to him / her.
With over 30 years in the real estate game, I found the book very informative. It includes
detailed information on how to negotiate a real estate offer, find financing, maintain the
investment, as well as selling strategies. Mr. Pockross takes the reader through every stage
of the transaction. I recommend it to anyone who is contemplating investing in real estate in
these economic times. It is not just for the beginner. Even seasoned veterans will find it
entertaining and helpful.
