Christmas In Crochet
by Edited by Connie Ellison
Here
is a generously sized compendium of 58 projects, all on a Christmas
theme. Get into the spirit of the holiday season with these fun
projects, which can be used for decorating your home or given as
gifts.
It is great to have a whole book of this sort of thing without having
to invest in lots of magazines. Make toys, warm garments for adults
and children, dress the tree and table, and just generally deck
the halls with seasonal crocheted items. As with all books from
this publisher, the projects are graded and are suitable for both
improvers and intermediate crocheters. This is not to say that this
is a book for beginners; no project is given this rating and you
won’t find instructions on how to do stitches (apart from
one page at the back with a website address for more help), freeing
up space for more projects. There are many traditional ideas in
here, but a lot of them have been given a modern twist, such as
a gold lacy tree skirt, garland of tiny mittens, character pillows,
tic tac toe game with seasonal motifs, etc. The one thing I was
not keen on was the strange habit the book has of abandoning a project
halfway through and resuming it a lot later in the book. Apart from
that, this is a useful book to own if you like to make your own
decorations and gifts.
