The Great Big Book of Designs
Design Source Books

by Judy Balchin, Penny Brown, Lesley Davies, Jane Greenwood, Elaine Hamer, Elaine Handley, Polly Pinder

Search Press is well known for having a large series of Design Source Books, each containing line drawn designs from many different civilizations, countries and art styles.  You could buy them all of course, or you could buy this large book containing a selection to inspire you and enhance your creativity.

Inside this inch-thick book there are borders, corners, motifs, frames and whole page designs depicting flowers, figures, abstracts, animals and many other things from many different sources.  Choose from Ancient Egyptian, Aztec, Celtic, Native American, Roman, Art Nouveau, Aboriginal, Persian and more.  All are line drawn, and all can form a basis for any number of projects.

The great thing about these books is that you can use up to fifteen designs for any single project without having to notify the publishers or pay charges.  Try using part of a design, or go for the whole motif; this type of book is useful for anybody from beginners to designers because it is just so inspiring to leaf through and see what you can do.  This is one of those very useful books that belong on the keeper shelf of any artist or craftsperson.
