Trace and Paint Watercolour
Ready To Paint Series
by Terry Harrison, Geoff Kersey and Arnold Lowrey
Search
Press have been on to a winner with their award-winning Ready To
Paint series, and now here is a compendium volume of pictures to
please budding artists. For anybody reading this who wonders what
all the fuss is about this new concept allows tyro artists to practice
their painting skills without the need to be able to draw. Each
book contains several pull-out tracings to transfer to paper and
all the illustrated instructions to produce some very fine work
indeed.
The
fourteen projects in here are taken from three earlier books, but
for anybody new to watercolor painting and wanting a good selection
of different pictures to tackle then this bigger book is good value.
You would need to want to paint landscapes, as that is what you
will find in here. Choose between views across fields, of woods
(my favorite is the bluebell wood), rivers, mountains, sea views
and snow scenes. As usual each project contains a full list of all
the types of brush, named paints and other materials you need and
there are a large number of easy stages. I particularly like the
way you can see what the painting looks like at each stage, and
each caption is short and to the point. Each picture gives the person
painting it a chance to learn new skills, from getting clouds right
to painting snow, showing a myriad of flowers or getting to grips
with masking fluid. It truly is a pretty foolproof way of learning
to paint and I wish it had been around when I was learning. I can
imagine this book making an excellent gift for the would-be artist
on many present lists.
