Got a small
dog? Here are thirty garments and accessories for you to knit, crochet
or stitch to make it the most fashionable pooch on the block!
To whet your appetite for making the items the first part of this
book features full-page photographs of a variety of different small
breeds of dog wearing the garments. This gives you the chance to
see them in some detail and choose what to make. Then come the instructions,
which I would say would mostly suit a more intermediate level of
crafter. Some are easy, but most need some knowledge of how to scale
up or down depending on the size of your dog. You will need to measure
it carefully indeed for the stitched designs, but the knitted and
crocheted ones are very stretchy so should pose less of a problem.
As well as jackets and vests (one for wet weather) there are scarves,
collars and pendants to hang from them. There are also cushions
on which the dog can sit when not out and about strutting its stuff
in its new finery. Yarncraft instructions also feature charts, but
if you do not already know how to knit, crochet and sew to a reasonable
standard then you won’t learn how to do so in this book as
it is a book of patterns only. This allows for more patterns, and
there are plenty for both sexes featuring plaids, stripes, flowers,
frills, skulls, bones and more to suit all tastes and appearances.
Although I often see dogs wearing garments I have not previously
seen a book on how to create them, so if you want to do this then
this ought to fit the bill.
