Decorate your home, garden or even street with twenty different
types of fun bunting for all occasions. Even if sewing is not your
forte, these projects are quick, easy and enjoyable enough. If that
isn’t enough of an incentive, think of all the recycling you
will be doing!
I’ve already decided to make some bunting to replace some
torn old Christmas decorations, having never previously thought
of bunting as anything other than a street adornment to welcome
tourists. All you need apart from a sewing machine and something
to make the templates from are oddments of fabric of your choosing.
Recycle old clothes or other cloth items, use up bits from your
sewing projects, or buy remnants. Some projects use felt, lace,
net or other bits and pieces such as trimming, buttons, etc., and
all the materials needed for each project (including, most helpfully,
the tools) are listed. Templates (you will need to enlarge these)
are also given, or directions on how to construct simpler shapes,
and there are staged instructions, as well as a full page photo
of the finished item. There are buntings for Christmas, wedding,
new baby, 4th July and Valentine’s Day, as well as themed
styles using assorted shapes or patterned fabrics in Wild West,
floral and beach, or shaped like hearts, flowers, butterflies, Christmas
trees and, my own favorite, snowflakes. There is an “instant”
bunting which can be made in a rush, a miniature one and even one
you can spell out a name on – great for a new baby’s
room or a favored guest! I always say that it is a real treat to
see a how-to book on a brand new subject and this is certainly that.
One for the keeper shelf.
