DK Publishing's new book, Craft: Techniques and Projects, is a must-have for learning the tools and methods used for making various crafts. As the title implies, this book is chock-full of illustrations and step-by-step instructions for various crafts that will inspire and please even the most hesitant of novices. I spent many hours perusing the various crafts listed, from wonderful textile crafts to items made from paper, ceramics and glass, and getting ideas for birthday and holiday gifts, and even items to make for my home. I found exciting jewelry ideas involving polymer, air dry and metal clay for some truly beautiful pieces.

DK Publishing is known for their instructional books and this is one of the best I've seen. The publisher doesn't stop with the basics of a few crafts, but discusses others, like candles and soap, eco crafts and paper crafts. Though some crafts may seem daunting, one only needs to read the thorough instructions and glance at the full-color photographs to realize they aren't quite so hard after all. There are so many projects that I've often wanted to do and now, at last, I have a compendium of ideas and instructions to soothe my creative soul.

What I most love about this new release is the excellent explanation of the tools to use for each craft project, the full color photos that reveal each step, and the wonderful variety of projects that have been compiled in this must-have reference book. If you have a little time on your hands, are looking to learn something new, or want to make that special handmade gift, this is the book for you. I love it.
