Easy Beading
Vol. 8 is a compilation of some of the best designs from Bead
Style magazine published over the past year. The editors have taken
into account beginning jewelry makers and included a beader's glossary
and the basics of beading techniques, then goes into a detailed
discussion of gemstones and crystals, along with suggestions for
each and easy to follow instructions and detailed photographs. The
book also covers metal and chain jewelry, transfers, use of color
and metal wires, mixed media, resign, applique, clay, layered polymer
designs, and glass & ceramic jewelry. Various design styles
are included, including the new steam punk style.
I especially liked the beaded braids section, and ideas for "potluck"
designs using left over beads, something jewelry designers usually
have lots of around. In addition to creatively using left over inventory,
the editors have included articles on repurposing crystals, gemstones
and pearls from broken or found jewelry into your own unique designs.
Easy Beading Vol. 8 is truly a comprehensive fountain of
information and creative designs that makes an excellent source
of inspiration. As a hardback publication with over 250 pages, Easy
Beading Vol. 8 is my personal compendium for reference and creative
planning for my own inspired jewelry designs, and one I recommend
to everyone interested in making beaded jewelry.
