If you enjoyed making
Susie Johns Knitted Beanies (also reviewed on this site), why
not dress up your boots? In this slim volume there are twenty
patterns for the currently fashionable toppers to keep your
legs cozy this winter.
There are cuffs for men, women and children in here and something
to please everybody. Choose from plain but practical or those
with hearts, flowers, pigs, penguins, ducks, plaid or stripes.
The author is an Art Deco fan so there is more than one Clarice
Cliff inspired pattern, one with bouclé yarn and my own
favorite, the festival-inspired Rasta Jester. It helpfully always
says if a pattern is suitable for the more experienced knitter,
and mostly I would pitch this book at improver level. Each page
spread has a full-page photo of the item one side and the pattern
on the other, telling you also what needles and yarn you need
and sometimes with a graph too. As with all the knitting books
in this series this is not the place to learn to knit, but these
patterns grow fast and make great projects to build confidence.
