Knooking
is the newest yarncraft on the block, a mixture of knitting
and crochet. Basically you knit with a crochet hook, combining
the two for a whole new dimension. The word is a combination
of knit + hook, so as the back of the book says if you are
a fan of the other two crafts you will enjoy this.
This last sentence is a clue; if you can already knit and
crochet here is a new way of producing knitting. At the front
of the book the method for knooking is given plus a page or
two of crochet stitches as a refresher course. I would guess
that if you are reasonably confident with a crochet hook plus
have a bit of knitting know-how you can tackle the projects
in this book. Total yarncraft beginners are advised to go
elsewhere to learn the two earlier crafts first before progressing
to this. Once you have got the knack you can produce some
attractive pieces. This is a very versatile craft and this
book shows this off well. The projects are divided into outdoors
and indoors; choose from hats, scarves, bags, a blanket, hot
water bottle cover, cat doorstop, baby items, a tablet case
etc. Each project has a large photo of the finished item plus
difficulty rating, what you need to buy and instructions given
in text form with no charts. Some pieces are quick to make,
others are larger and would take longer but none look too
advanced. his is a fun introduction to a new craft that is
sure to become popular.
