| Exquisite Stitching with
Multi-Hole Beads is a new release from Kalmbach books.
Like all the jewelry how-to books from this respected publisher,
this paperback book is designed to help the novice learn the
skills for making various projects, and for the expert to
have a reference book that provides ideas that stir up a designer's
creative juices. Naturally, there's an extremely helpful section
on materials and techniques, and the projects are broken down
into sections for the various types and shapes of beads, including
pearls, fire-polished, crystals, or rectangular, round, square,
triangular, etc.
The book is 8-1/4”x 10-3/4” with full color photos
on coated stock. Each project -- and there are 25 designs
-- shows a finished piece, with a list of items needed for
the project, detailed instructions on completing the designs,
and even wonderful tips. The necklace, bracelet, earring and
pendant designs are absolutely exquisite and, as the title
suggests, delicate and visually stunning. They are so magnificent
that I could easily imagine them being worn by the rich and
famous. The projects use both single-hole and multi-hole beads,
and although the resulting designs look quite expensive to
make, they are not.
Renee Kovnesky has her own Etsy shop where she sells her
patterns, and she also teaches at beading shops. With this
new release, we can learn in the comfort of our own homes
from this highly talented jewelry designer. Just one look
at the cover and you can see why she's so popular. I especially
love her “Dancing Angels” and “Pearls on
Parade” necklaces, and found them easier to make than
I first imagined. I'm sure you’ll find your favorites
as well.
