Sherry
Serafini is a true virtuoso in jewelry design, and one glance
through Inspired Bead Embroidery from Kalmbach will reveal
why. I’ve always admired the embroidered jewelry I’ve
seen being worn by others, or the vintage embroidery jewelry
I’ve seen featured at various estate sales and jewelry
shops, and wanted to try that method to create my own designs.
But where to start, and how?
Sherry’s outstanding designs, coupled with the reasoning
she provides behind each of her designs, gave me informative
insight into the design process. The explanations of her techniques
and the elements she used to reach each of her designs inspired
me to attempt to create my own embroidered earrings. I was
thrilled by the ease at which I was able to accomplish this
task, thanks to the guidance I found in this illustrative
and inspiring release.
For those who have never done embroidery jewelry and want
to try this method, or for those who have been using this
method for years, this book provides so many wonderful color
photos and projects that you’re sure to find exciting
new ideas for creating your own unique style of jewelry.
For newbies, the book includes a basics section that covers
everything you need to know to get started: tools, supplies
and techniques. Sherry has even provided some template designs
for you to enlarge and use. Sherry goes into detail on using
various focals with images or patterns, fabrics, shapes and
even unusual elements to create a distinctive design all your
own. Create your own cuff bracelet or bangle, necklace, pendant,
earrings or even a special bag, belt buckle or even a hairpiece.
The possibilities are endless.
This hardcover edition is a must-have and marvelous keepsake
and idea bank for you to refer to again and again. I’ve
gained some wonderful ideas for using all those leftover focal
pieces and beads. I am off to create my own unique necklace
to match my earrings. I am sure you’ll want to do the
same after reading this book.
