Learn to Stitch Beaded Jewelry by Marla Salezze, is a wonderful collection of inspiring designs created by beadweaving various sizes and types of beads, designed primarily to introduce newcomers to this method of making jewelry, but contains a wealth of ideas that experienced beaders can use.

As a jewelry designer who uses mostly faceted gemstones, but one who always wanted to get into beading, I found the basic techniques section extremely helpful, as well as the helpful tips Ms. Salezze has sprinkled throughout each project. Especially useful are the sections describing the various beads and materials used, the tools required, necessary findings, as well as the various wires and threads necessary to complete a project. Most important, of course, was the section on the various stitch types. In fact, each project is based upon a particular stitch.

As I wanted to try something new, I glanced through the beautiful full-color photos and found a piece that appealed to me, and tried the various stitches for a first project. I chose the Art Deco earrings and, using my favorite blue and silver beads, followed the clear step-by-step instructions to complete earrings of which I am proud. The book is chocked full of over 50 projects so I’m sure you’ll find a favorite or two as well. Others I fell in love with are the "Aztec" and "Stepping Stone" bracelets, "Coiled Hoop" earrings, and especially the "Netted Necklace."

In short, whether you are a beginner looking for a new method of making jewelry, or an experienced beader searching for new and innovative ideas, this book is packed full of inspiration, and one you’ll want to refer to again and again.
