A purse with a metal frame always looks professional and neat, but it also looks like something more likely to be bought in a store than made at home. Not so with this book. This lifts the lid on how to attach a clasp and even includes two of them to get you started!

If you already sew, you will have the few workbox basics you need to make these purses, plus fabric and fusible fleece. These clasps are the glue-in type; other types exist but instructions for those are not included here. As long as you have some fairly elementary sewing skills you will be able to make these simple but impressive looking purses. There are several different sized frames in the range and, therefore, several different styles of purses, not all to put money in.

Make a pencil case (my own favorite), a glasses case, wristlet or larger bag, as well as various coin purses. Patterns are included on a sheet in the packet at the back with the two frames, and all instructions are given for fourteen projects. Each project has a large photograph of the finished item, usually made in more than one fabric and shown from different angles, as well as photographic stages for how to attach the purse frames. A list of materials (imperial and metric), cutting instructions for the pattern pieces, and very clearly laid out instructions for making up are given for each item, together with drawn diagrams. At the back is a gallery of thumbnail photographs of the purses (this would have been better at the front), plus photographs of the coin purse kits made by Zakka Workshop.

This is a very user friendly book that is sure to give confidence to fairly new crafters as well as a lot of enjoyment for any other level.
