Much knowledge is packed within this slender, easy-reading book. Knowledge that transcends pure spiritual bounds and enters into the metaphysical. I am the first to admit that many of the things in the book that were discussed I'm not familiar enough with to speak about, but the explanations provided are very helpful to my rudimentary understanding. Touchstones to Remembering Your Spirit is a study guide.

Touchstones can be literal. Rev. Jennings recommends and defines the process for purifying stones for the rituals described. She also takes the time to explain things fully like the perfection and divinity in the number seven. This book is divided into seven chapters, each related to specifics in ones journey within themselves. Seven can be found in the number of planets, the number in the days of the week, seven days of creation, seven colors in the rainbow; seven spiritual centers, seven notes on the musical scale, seven branches of the Menorah, and all theological works contain references to the number seven. This kind of profound realization, found throughout the book is what I find simply fascinating. Rev. Jennings has really researched and is knowledgeable about her topic.

The book is also filled with anecdotes of wisdom passed down from grandmother to child. This is a fine tradition, and for Rev. Jennings this probably stemming from her upbringing in Guyana. The family is a strong force in the spiritual life and the philosophies and perspectives examined in this book are interwoven beautifully.
