The
Book on Leadership
By
John MacArthur
What
is a leader? According to popular modern ideology, a leader is someone
who can exert enough charisma and power that he can get even the
most difficult tasks done without lifting a finger. Jesus, however,
had a completely different idea. In MacArthur’s book “The
Book on Leadership,” the ideas conveyed by prominent leaders
in the bible are laid out on the examination table.
Christ
stated that a leader should be selfless and should be willing to
sacrifice his own happiness for the betterment of the cause and
others. Paul shows that character, not style, is what makes a good
leader. MacArthur uses these ideas to build a “how-to”
type book about what a good leader really is. From learning how
to earn trust, to the measure of a true leader, MacArthur examines
the frank nature of what a leader is and who in the bible are true
testaments to the ideas personified by that nature.
Christ,
John the Baptist, Paul the Apostle…all three are prime examples
of real leaders according to this book. MacArthur really takes time
to delve into the text of the bible as well as history in order
to examine the ideology set forth by these men. In well-written
essay form, MacArthur, who is also the author of “Twelve Ordinary
Men,” gives constant examples of his theories and ideas, giving
his readers a better, more open look at why these men were true
leaders. Simply mind-altering as well as entertaining, “The
Book on Leadership” gives readers a chance to find out what
it takes to really make a difference.
