In
Search of Paul
How
Jesus’ Apostle Opposed Rome’s Empire with God’s
Kingdom
A New Vision of Paul’s Words & World
By
John Dominic Crossan and Jonathan L. Reed
Many
things have been said of Paul the apostle. Some say that he was
a betrayer and some that he was Christ’s most worthy successor.
Crossan and Reed, in “In Search of Paul,” dig deep into
biblical texts as well as archeological findings in order to understand
who Paul truly was. Using their expertise in the knowledge of Christianity
and history, Crossan and Reed show that Paul may have been imperfect,
but he was still a worthy successor to help the Christian faith
fight for its place in a world ruled by Rome.
Crossan
and Reed have done an incredible job with this book. Having always
been fascinated by Christian history and theology, I was hooked
at page one. It’s an incredible collection of ideas, theories,
and information that all show the integral part Paul played in the
evolution of the Christian faith. Simply remarkable.
