Soul and the City:
Finding God in the Noise and Frenzy of Life
by Marcy Heidish
I found Soul and the City to be a beneficial book to read. It is a well-written book filled with quotes and
references from other books that piqued my curiosity to read them as well. Having a huge desire to move to a very
isolated ranch in Montana, Soul and the City has given me a different perspective on city living. For
anyone who wants to grow in their spirituality Soul and the City is a must have and I highly recommend it.
There is a stop, yield, and go following each chapter that can be used either for private study or a group study to
aid in spiritual growth.
Cities are home to millions who have not lost their souls, so how, in today's contemporary cities, can one find
God in the hustle and bustle of everyday life? In Soul and the City, Marcy Heidish tells us many ways to
accomplish this in today's very busy world. You can see the beauty of Christ in each individual person you pass on
the street. How often we miss an encounter with God if we do not look for God in the people we walk among everyday.
I meet the God I seek in others faces, if I dare but look.
Marcy Heidish also speaks of how to practice the Presence of God in every moment. To find peace in the midst of
the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the busy city, turn your mind moment by moment to God and practice the
Presence of God. And, always remember it was Elijah who recognized God's presence, not in the thunder, not in the
earthquake, not in the fire - but rather in the still small voice. He is always there in our midst if we just but
look. |
