Joyce Meyer
is telling listeners/readers to forgive. Sounds easy, right? Not
so much when it comes to some.
The point that
stood out most to me in Meyer's lasted best-seller is anger being
a sign of un-forgiveness. When something traumatic and completely
unfair takes an emotional and physical toll on us, we make it worse
by hanging on to the unforgiveness. We know we should leave it to
God (Hebrews 10:30). But when something happens, whether it's happened
once or over many years, the result sinks deep into our spirit and
our emotions run the gambit -- anger, self-pity, doubt, and distrust
- maybe even hatred. I understand where Meyer is coming from with
her teachings. We've suffered already, so why make it worse? Joyce
reminds us of the physical damage anger and unforgiveness cause.
Anger interferes with our relationship with God and loved ones.
Anger can quickly turn to rage. A lot of us refer to it as being
"really" mad. We are reminded that God wants us to control
our anger (Psalms 78:38). To get the message across, Meyer shares
her own stories as well as others. She explains righteous anger,
distorted and/or valid anger. And as always, the author backs it
up with scripture.
Meyer moves
from explaining anger to why we need to forgive; how to forgive;
how to find hidden unforgiveness (the kind you don't realize you
have until faced with the cause of it), dealing with offense (all
kinds). Seeking God is where we will find the power, the blessing,
and -the mercy. Thank goodness for mercy.
Meyer leaves
her listeners/readers with a desire to experience a clear mind,
a content soul and a stronger relationship with God.
Meyer's latest
audio book is once again narrated by her grown daughter, Sandra.
Sandra narrates her mother's words in a clear and concise manner.
Her strong narration leaves us with no doubts in her own faith in
God and in Meyer's teachings. Highly Recommended.
