"Where
were you when freedom died?" That is the shocking question
that opens "Indivisible: Restoring Faith, Family and Freedom
Before It's Too Late." Our freedom is dying as, little
by little, we give more and more control to the government. How
is this happening? According to authors James Robison and Jay Richardson,
it's our own misconception of the word's meaning that causes us
to surrender our rights.
First, they
tell us, we have to understand that freedom is not just an absence
of restraint. True freedom comes in the right to do what we should
do even if no one is watching. It is recognizing that with rights
come responsibilities. We should exercise restraint with our free
speech and demonstrate that we are intelligent enough to earn that
right, even if we have a law guaranteeing that right. Their point
is that our rights are similar to the privileges we had as children.
If we didn't do what we should, even when our parents were not watching,
we lost those privileges. That's why we're losing our rights.
They also discuss
religious freedom. We have the right to worship God as our
conscience dictates. The Constitution says nothing about not worshipping
Him. To our founding fathers, that was unthinkable. It has been
said that our strength is in our churches. We are stronger when
we rely on God.
James Robison
and Jay Richards have written an important book that everyone in
America needs to read. They take difficult issues and give valid
answers for solving our problems. That's more than Congress has
done in the last thirty years. Listen to Jay W. Richards tell (not
read) the truth about freedom. Do it before you vote in November.
