Patrick Morley has presented some helpful information for men who strive for a richer spiritual life in Man Alive: Transforming Your Seven Primal Needs into a Powerful Spiritual Life.

The information on the seven primal needs is listed individually with info on how to achieve the need. The seven primal needs are as follow: (1) to feel that I don't have to live life alone; (2) to believe-really believe-that God knows, loves, and cares about me personally; (3) to believe that my life has a purpose-that my life is not random; (4) to break free from the destructive behaviors that keep dragging me down; (5) to satisfy my soul for transcendence, awe, and communion; (6) to love and be loved without reservation; and (7) to make a contribution and leave the world a better place.

Each section ends with a reflection and discussion questions that is helping in probing into individual needs on desired needs.

The author gives advice and examples of each area of need, but a major plus is the information and additional help that's given on how to start a men's study group to grow more in spirituality. For that purpose the author includes a section entitled "Discussion Leaders Guide."

This is a good good book to have on hand when one finds himself lacking or falling behind on one of the basic needs.
