Bonechillers
13 Twisted Tales of Terror
by D.W.Cropper
I grew up on horror stories - read by flashlight long after good little girls should be
asleep. Nothing beats a really good scary story but they seem harder and harder to find.
Some of the popular kids' spook tales seem too tame. Well, Bonechillers delivered
all the creepiness I love plus a few genuinely scary moments. There are ghosts inside
this book, but also werewolves, demons, vampires, fairies, and assorted monsters. My
favorite of the bunch involved a creepy orphanage with a spooky twist. The stories were
fast-paced treats, just great for a quick bedtime reading snack - if you aren't afraid
of nightmares. Personally, I wouldn't recommend these for anyone under ten as some of
the stories are quite scary and a bit gruesome, but for older kids, you'll find plenty
of chills in this batch. And for teens who loved Vivian Vende Velde's Being Dead and
are looking for new chills - I heartily recommend Cropper's Bonechillers. It just
might make you leave the light on. |
