Return
of the Golden Age
Fisherman's Son Series, No. 3
by Marilyn Peake
This is the third and final volume in the Fisherman's Son trilogy. In Return of
the Golden Age, Wiley O'Mara and the boys from the ancient City of the Golden Sun
beneath the ocean travel to Wiley's own impoverished island. The boys, having lived in
the glorious city, reminiscent of Atlantis, for thousands of years must now adjust to
a very different life. Wiley must help them adjust to this poor village at the turn of
the nineteenth century. How can he make the villagers understand that the six boys are
descendants of a rich and powerful people? Will the villagers understand that their city
disappeared from the Earth centuries before, and that they have survived beneath the sea?
This wonderful fantasy tells of magical beings, communication between the boys and creatures
from the sea, golden rings and a mysterious cave. Elden the magical dolphin and Lucinda,
the guardian of the forest lake, are on hand to help Wiley and the boys as they take on
the task of living on the island.
Marilyn Peake has created a fantasy world, appealing to young adults, that promotes
perseverance and goal achievement. The characters are realistic and likable with lots of
action and suspense leading to a satisfying conclusion. |
