Stones of Abraxas
The Abraxas Pentagram, No. 1
by K. Osborn Sullivan
The Stanhope kids, 12 year-old David and 14 year-old Amanda, are average American kids living in a Chicago suburb.
They are reluctantly going to spend summer vacation in a broken down cabin in the wilderness. As they search the
attic to compile their camping gear, they run across an old trunk that bears investigation. In the trunk they find
a wonderful ruby pendant that sends David, Amanda and their mom, Susan, to a strange new world inhabited by
creatures they’d never seen before. There are strange prehistoric birds, centaurs, and dragons.
The plot is fast paced and has some surprising twists. The Stanhopes find that this world is actually a world
that is parallel to their own. They meet the rulers of Abraxas, and discover that they share mutual ancestors.
There is also a disagreeable magician named Adrian the Deceiver, who desperately needs their ruby to complete the
Stones of Abraxas... five gems having magical powers, and held together by a golden shield that will give him the
power he needs to rule both worlds. It is up to the Stanhopes to stop Adrian the Deceiver and his horde of magicians
with their evil agenda.
K. Osborn Sullivan has invented a medieval-like world in this riveting fantasy that is populated with compelling,
fully developed characters. The centaurs are among my favorites, but all the characters have personalities that shine
through.
It is a very entertaining story, and it will leave you wanting more. Watch for Heroes of Abraxas, Book Two
in the Abraxas Pentagram, coming soon! |
