Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully

by Audrey Penn
Illustrated by Barbara L Gibson

Chester Raccoon, his brother Ronny, and his best friend, Cassy, did not want to go to school. Chester begged his mother to allow them to stay home. Concerned that Chester didn’t want to go to school, she asked the reason why. She learned that Chester and his friends were being bullied by a Badger.

Chester’s mother wanted him to face his fears and walked with him to school. On the way, they ran into the Badger. She saw that the Badger thought he had the upper hand. She left the children at school and returned that afternoon. She learned of all the mischief that had occurred that day.

Chester’s mother asked that he bring all his schoolmates who were being harassed by the Badger to one place. There she told a story about the forest animals finding a rock which was different from any rock they had ever seen. By working together they painstakingly made the rock resemble the rest of the everyday stones.

Chester's mother's story prompted his classmates to befriend the Badger. At first the Badger was unsure of the motives of the group. Will he be able to trust the group or will he continue with his mischievous ways?

Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully explains an important life lesson to which all youngsters can relate, about what to do when they encounter a bully. The illustrations alone make this book one of the best I have seen in some time. This truly is a wonderful book, for it provides a very satisfying reading experience that your children will surely grow to love. Very highly recommended.
