The Great Adventure of Sally Rock and El Lobo
Book 2
by Rick Osorio
Sally Rock journeys to the Colorado Rockies for her first skiing trip. Not an ordinary family vacation, this trek
teams Sally’s renowned scientist parents and uncle for a government requested analysis. The U.S. government spots an
unknown energy field in the mountains and asks the Rocks to head a secretive investigation.
The team meets with local rangers, who are recovering from an unknown animal attack. Amazed at their survival,
the young rangers are raring to find the beast, who tossed them into a human pile of lumber. With pleas from
Sally’s parents, government officials relent and give Sally an unofficial position in the investigative group.
Examining the area’s energy bursts, the team soon discovers a dangerous wolf creature and a secret cave. Thrust
into an alien world, the Rock family doesn’t know if they will escape alive.
The Great Adventure of Sally Rock and El Lobo, the second novel from author Rick Osorio, combines
adventure and suspense elements into a fast-paced fantasy. The main character, Sally Rock, is a spunky girl filled
with a love of outdoor adventures. Osorio intensifies this book’s storyline with colorful descriptions and layers
of conflict, though the story would be stronger with more show / less tell and increasing active voice. Using
different characters’ POVs, Osorio understands what makes a good story and weaves complex plots and interesting
characters into an adventurous fantasy. |
