The Magic in You!

by Sally H. Taylor
Illustrated by the author

Spring brought forth a splendid flower with majestic petals that shone brightly in the sunlight. Sadly, this flower was not accepted by the others. They refused to see her as a friend and simply ignored her. Tragedy befell the little flower one day when a hungry billy goat decided to munch away on one of her treasured petals. Just when the flower thought the day could not get any worse, a car rudely ran over one of its leaves. Feelings of being broken, damaged, and unloved brought tears to the little flower’s eyes.

Night came, and with it a fairy, who decided to visit the sad little flower. The flower asked the fairy to let her once again be whole and beautiful. The fairy did not grant the flower’s wish, instead she left her with the words of wisdom that she could be beautiful anytime that she wished, she didn’t need magic to produce what already existed.

When daybreak arrives, the little flower is determined to make the best of her life. She starts out by performing random acts of kindness for others. When she sees how the receiver is thrilled by her generosity it allows her to gain a renewed appreciation for herself and, in the end, she finds true happiness.

The illustrations alone make The Magic in You! an unforgettable experience. Each image seems to jump straight from the page and into the reader’s heart. These magnificent drawings reveal a very talented artist.

This is a story of self discovery and acceptance, and offers a valuable lesson that will enrich any youngster’s life. I would encourage parents to take the time to sit down and read this story to their children. Your young one will appreciate being able to view the pictures while your voice brings the story to life. Very highly recommended.
