One Night In Frogtown
by Philip Pelletier
Illustrated by Verne Lindner
This book is a musical journey that introduces kids to different cultures and their music. Tad is a
saxophone-playing tadpole who loves to perform along with music that only he can hear. He leaves his section of
the pond to find the wonderful blues music he hears in the distance. He comes to the Toadstool Tavern and joins in
the fun. When Tad wonders if blues is the best music, the bouncer throws him out. Tad keeps on swimming to see
what else he can find. Each group Tad discovers in Frogtown plays a different type of music: blues, classical,
and rap. While each group thinks theirs is the best kind of music, Tad loves them all. After he has been rejected
by each group and sings his song about being all alone, all the frogs slowly join in, realizing how closed-minded
they had been.
The CD follows the text, and is narrated by Curtis Salgado, accompanied by beautiful background music. Read
along with the text, and then sing the songs as Tad visits each section of Frogtown and discovers a new culture.
This is a beautiful book all about making new friends and understanding our differences.
The delightful illustrations by Verne Lindner are sure to capture the imagination of your little ones. The music
is enchanting and the kids will beg to hear this book and the uplifting music over and over. |
