Roonie B. Moonie:
Lost and Alone
by Janan Cain
Janan Cain's new book is designed to help children decide what to do in the awful event that they become lost.
Roonie B. Moonie is a young bee who would love to be a great explorer. His mother goes through all the safety rules
with him before he is allowed to go outside the hive. He knows that he should stay in the open and be extra careful
around strangers and not go with them. Mother B. Moonie cautions Roonie to always stay calm and listen to his
feelings and use his head.
Roonie discovers a mysterious hollow log and he just can't help checking it out. Even though his mother told him
to stay in the open, he goes inside the log. There are frightening strangers inside the log, and when Roonie manages
to escape, nothing looks familiar. He finds himself in one scary situation after another, and now Roonie must rely on
his mother's guidance and on his instincts to keep safe.
Illustrated in Janan's unique style with bright oil paintings on charcoal paper, this delightful book will be a
bedtime favorite and is a must-have for your home library. In a "Note to parents" section at the end of the book,
Cain gives parents guidelines for teaching children how to be safe if the unthinkable happens and they can't find
their way home, along with recommended reading. |
