The Willow Buds picture books bring the world of Wind in the Willows to very young children, as we see childhood adventures inspired by Kenneth Grahame's wonderful characters. In The Tale of Toad and Badger a very spoiled Toady is disgruntled when he's expected to be nice to his new nanny's son Badger. Toady doesn't share anything well but when he goes too far, he learns an important lesson about making room for new friends. My eight-year-old was so enchanted with the story that she immediately wanted to read the original Wind in the Willows for herself, proving this sweet story is an excellent introduction to the classic. The illustrations are softly colored but full of personality and life. Warm, lively, and well written, this is definitely a winner to share with any child.
