Bippity Bop Barbershop

by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley
Illustrated by E. B. Lewis

Bippity Bop Barbershop, by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley, will appeal to all members of the family, but any father who has taken his son for his first haircut will read this little story with extra nostalgia.

The story recounts Miles’ first haircut and all the emotions that go with that rite of passage.  Charles, the father, goes through his own emotions, and the author gives the reader the sense of how important this event is to both son and father.

Illustrator E. B. Lewis presents such vivid illustrations that we feel we are in the barbershop with Miles, and we pull for him to make the right decisions about getting his hair cut. The reader may be surprised by the kind of haircut Miles gets, but he will be pleased with the choice.

Every father who has gone through this ritual should read this book with his son and talk about this event. This is a children’s book—but it should be read at least once by an adult to the child—no matter the age.
