Dinotrux

by Chris Gall

Dinosaurs are always popular with kids, but these industrial monstrosities have an appeal all their own.  Millions of years ago, in Chris Gall's terrific imagination, Dinotrux ruled the earth.  These amazing creatures were part dinosaur and part machine, and they demolished everything in their path in their great rumbling, bulldozing way.

Gall's artwork is...can I say groundbreaking? Tyrannosaurus Trux and Garbageadon do plenty of that, as they smash rocks and tear up the vegetation.  The Deliverodons, looking a lot like modern UPS vans, are all piled up taking a nap, and the Craneosauraus is busy nosing around in the treetops. The prehistoric people with their fearful expressions are appealing. There is a big bonus fold-out page that shows just what happened to all the Dinotrux and why there are none today. The end pages in the book are illustrated with the Dinotrux on one side, and their modern counterparts on the other.

Except for the names of the creatures, the text is easy to read, and the richly colored illustrations will keep the kids entertained for hours.  Read this one aloud at family time or bedtime.  It's a great conversation starter to introduce the subject of evolution, and highly entertaining for kids to read on their own.
