Lisa Tawn Bergren's delightful book (a continuation of the God Gave Us series) shows
very young children that we should love everyone—even those who pester us the most. The
book is enhanced by the lovable artwork of Laura J. Bryant.
Little Cub and Grampa are trying to fish, but the otters (being playful creatures) are
scaring the fish away. Grampa reminds his grandson that the otters have as much right to be
there as Little Cub and Grampa do. Grampa adds, "Half the fun of fishing is being together."
Little Cub decides that maybe loving everyone is a good idea, but he balks at the idea of
loving the kissy huggy stuff like Mama and Papa give each other. Grampa tells him one day he
too will like that kind of love.
This is an excellent book to get young readers started toward loving people who are different
from themselves, and even people who think differently.
Above all, the book teaches that God is love, and all the love we have for Him and others
comes from Him.
