The Great Dog Wash

by Shellie Braeuner
Illustrated by Robert Neubecker

They all need a good scrubbing, but when the neighborhood dogs all show up for a backyard dog wash, the situation quickly gets way out of hand. There's only one tub and a whole lot of canines waiting to play scrub-a-dub-dub, let's play in the tub.

Of course, when a lone cat walks in, chaos results as a doggy stampede sets off down the street chasing the kitty up a tree. But, undaunted, the resourceful children know just what to do to make the situation work to their advantage.

With all the dogs sitting around the tree gazing up into its branches, the kids grab soap, a hose, and some sponges and go to work. The captive audience is soon nice and clean while the cat remains high and dry!

A cute picture book for children two and older, you'll have fun reading this story aloud and looking at the various dogs. You might turn this into a basic math exercise by counting the number of animals on each page with your child.
